Déterminants de la performance des exportations de coton : cas des pays Africains
Résumé : Cet article a pour objectif d’identifier les déterminants de la performance des exportations de coton en Afrique. La période d’étude s’étend de 1990 à 2008 sur un échantillon de 17 pays. Nos résultats montrent que les variables comme le cours mondial du coton, le prix des fibres synthétiques, le taux de change effectif réel, l’avantage comparatif révélé, les consommations mondiales de coton et les investissements directs étrangers sont significatifs. Des implications de politiques économiques ont été faites pour rendre plus compétitive la filière coton en Afrique.

Determinants of the cotton exports’ performance: case of
African countries
Abstract: This article aims to identify the determinants of the performance of the cotton exports in Africa. The period of study extends from 1990 to 2008 over a sample of 17 countries. Our results show that the variables like world price of the cotton, the price of synthetic fibers, real effective exchange rate, revealed comparative advantage, world cotton consumptions and foreign direct investments are significant. Implications of economic policy were formulated in order to make more competitive the African cotton sector.
